Treatments in this department
What this covers. Which of these is right for you is decided with your clinician at a consultation, never from a list.
Root Canal Treatment
Removal of inflamed or infected pulp, followed by cleaning, disinfection and sealing of the canals to help preserve the tooth.
Complex Root Canal Treatment
Careful treatment of teeth with curved, narrow or difficult-to-access canals, guided by their anatomy and restorative outlook.
Root Canal Retreatment
Reopening and treating a previously root-filled tooth when persistent infection or another problem requires further care.
Emergency Root Canal Care
Prompt assessment and initial treatment of severe tooth pain or pulp-related infection, followed by a plan for definitive care.
Vital Pulp Therapy
Selected treatments that protect or preserve living pulp tissue when the tooth's condition allows a conservative approach.
Dental Abscess Management
Assessment and treatment of infection around a tooth, addressing its source through drainage, root canal care or extraction as appropriate.
Cracked Tooth Assessment & Care
Evaluation of a crack's location and extent to determine whether the tooth can be protected, restored or treated with root canal therapy.
Apicectomy (Root-End Surgery)
Surgical treatment of persistent infection around a root tip when further conventional root canal treatment is unsuitable or insufficient.
What to expect
Your visit starts with a conversation and an examination, with X-rays only where they add something. Your dentist explains what they see and the options in plain language, and nothing starts until you have agreed the plan. Local anaesthetic is used where a step would otherwise be uncomfortable, and you can ask for a pause at any time.
Aftercare basics
Your dentist gives you written aftercare for your case before you leave. The basics usually include gentle brushing and flossing as normal, a quiet day for the treated area, and a review visit so healing and comfort can be checked. If anything feels wrong, message us on WhatsApp and we reply during clinic hours.
Five questions
The questions people ask before this treatment. Anything else, ask us on WhatsApp.
Does a root canal hurt?
The treatment is done under local anaesthetic and, for most people, relieves the pain they came in with. Some tenderness for a few days afterwards is normal.
I have severe pain today. Can you see me?
Dental emergencies are seen same day during clinic hours. Call the clinic or message us on WhatsApp and we find you the first available slot.
Will the tooth need a crown afterwards?
Often, yes. A root-treated tooth is more fragile, so a filling, onlay or crown is usually planned to protect it. Your dentist advises for your tooth.
Which dentist will I see?
All three of our dentists work across these treatments. Tell us what you need and we book you with the right person, or name the dentist you would like to see.
