Dental Check-up & Cleaning
A routine examination of your teeth, gums and bite with professional scaling and polishing, so problems are found early and your teeth are properly cleaned.

Part of our department: General & Preventive Dentistry
What to expect
Your dentist asks how your teeth and gums have been, then looks carefully at every tooth, your gums, your bite and the soft tissues of your mouth. X-rays are taken only when they are needed. The cleaning removes plaque and hardened tartar above and just below the gum line, then polishes the teeth. You leave with a clear picture of your oral health and, if anything needs attention, a plan explained in plain words with any fees confirmed before treatment.
Aftercare basics
Your gums may feel a little tender for a day after a cleaning. Keep brushing twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste and clean between your teeth daily. Your dentist tells you how often to come back, often every six months.
Five questions
The questions people ask before this treatment. Anything else, ask us on WhatsApp.
How often should I have a check-up?
Often every six months, but your dentist sets the interval for you based on your teeth and gums; some people need more frequent visits, some fewer.
Is a dental cleaning painful?
Most people find it comfortable. If your gums are sensitive or there is a lot of tartar, tell your dentist: they can go gently, take breaks, or numb the area.
Do I need X-rays at every visit?
No. X-rays are taken only when your dentist needs them to see something the eye cannot, such as decay between teeth or the bone around the roots.
Does my insurance cover this?
That depends on your plan and on why the treatment is needed. Send a photo of your insurance card on WhatsApp and we check your cover before your visit. Any fees are confirmed with you before treatment.
Which dentist will I see?
All three of our dentists work across this treatment. Tell us what you need and we book you with the right person, or name the dentist you would like to see.
